Today I watched four episodes of Blackadder and two of Monty Python's Flying Circus. Kevin Bishop, in comparison, is about as funny as an advanced geology textbook.

I agree, but this is just lazy and poorly-made. As much as something doesn't necessarily need to be particularly intelligent to be funny, it does at least need to not insult your intelligence.
