Same, i'm edging toward no at the moment though. Abit gutted but there's always next year :( and tbh No Silverchair on the bill made me weep a little. I really thought after their amazing BDO shows they'd of got a European Summer tour together, lazy bastards ;).
Yeah, sooo unless i can get a bargain ticket, i'm not bothering.
I'm supposed to be getting a ticket but I've not heard anything for 2 weeks from the guy selling it. Apparently, he's contacting my brother today.
If I don't get hold of the tickets I'm going to Creamfields.

For everyone that said 'Can I get in on Wednesday without any early pass?' it's a probably a no. On the tickets it says no entry before 8am, Thursday and you can't buy early permits on the gates - as some of my mates found out last year.

Come the first day I'll already be knackered from adventure-week, woops. I make the most ridiculous plans.
Nevermind.. I'll mostly be wandering round trying to find Alicia and people for Manics, probably crashing different camps every night as far too many people are going, seeing a lot of the obvious, going for some stuff I've been recommended, and bouncing to Alkaline Trio who are playing a tent instead of main stage like last time, YAY.

Bumch of irritating, pointless, preaching-to-the-half-witted-converted, futile, worthless, outdated, bad-haired, sounding-like-shite c*nts. If the price of freedom is having to listen to that puerile pile of piss, then bring the capitalo-fascist hegemony ON.

Mixing music with politics is all well and good if you're into that sort of thing, but I ain't. I like RATM for their music, and that's all. When they get all arsey about shit in other countries and what-not, it pisses me off.
Politics is the best way to spoil a live show. U2 were guilty of it in the eighties and it pisses me off when you're watching the best live performance of a song and they go onto some preachy interlude mid-song about some bollocks right in the middle of a ****ing song. That's why I wasn't to arsed about seeing RATM live, and the fact that they didn't want to be filmed just highlights how much of a shower of wankers they really are.

I wimped out :( I've been six times, and I have never seen so much mud in my life. It took me two hours of falling over and not being able to get up easily to get to my tent after watching the stuff on thursday night and losing both my sisters. Add that to there being an actual DJ on in the campsite till 6am, the arses next to the head of my tent kicking me all night and the stupid drugs I'm on making me tired as soon as I touched any alcohol and I realised I'm too old for all that. I came to Newcastle instead for a week of art, family and geordie accents. And a proper bed. I'm so un-rock and roll, but I'm kinda happy with it :)
Why I fell over so much more then everyone else I have no idea, but me and knee-high mud clearly don't mix. Oh well, it's a more civilised festival for me next year.
Denning
25-08-2008, 12:52 PM
Just got home. It was brilliant.
The mud was ridiculous! On Thursday and Friday we got as far as the OXFAM tent then turned round to go back. When the mud is up to the middle of your shins it's time to head back to the tent. Luckily the guest area was fine and mud free so it wasn't getting into my tent like it was other peoples.
I was so disappointed with Rage! I was quite near the back and you'd think after the last 10 years they would sort the sound out. Not only was it really quiet there was often too much bass and it seemed to fade in and out. Spent a lot of time at the comedy tent but I always do and all said and done a top weekend =)
Now for a shower and a kip
Bumch of irritating, pointless, preaching-to-the-half-witted-converted, futile, worthless, outdated, bad-haired, sounding-like-shite c*nts. If the price of freedom is having to WATCH that puerile pile of piss, then bring the capitalo-fascist hegemony ON.

I'm home!
Highlights had to be Metallica, Rage, Scroobius Pip and Youthmovies. The Killers were awful. Loads of pictures taken and I've left so much stuff in Brap-ham park. Counted 28 gas canisters in our camp over the 6 days. Really enjoyed it, loads better than last year.
Time to sleep.

I watched it (well, Reading) on BBC3. Was pretty jealous of it all really. Then I remembered I have a bad back and dodgy knees.

I'm home and clean. Mud mud mud. Mud everywhere. I won't complain too much though as I expected to get soaked but the weather was lovely.
Did anyone else think the sound quality on all the stages was poor? Rage and the Killers were ruined by the soundguy's inability to turn the bass down a bit. Several other bands were either not loud enough or just all over the place. Still good though.
Highlights...Djing at the campsite party things on three nights and getting repeatedly shut off for people going too mental to my tunes...Justice (omgz)...finding my Cherno graffiti from last year in a toilet...being a general disgrace and having a fun old time.
Good stuff.

I wimped out :( Oh well, it's a more civilised festival for me next year.
You should come to Solfest next year! Loads of stuff for children and a really relaxed atmosphere.

Orange. Saturday night was the only night I didn't do (too drunk). Did you hear anything other than terrible dance / dnb / rave?

the set up at Leeds was a ****ing joke.
we had to walk through all the campsites to get to the main stage and again back to the car park.
only one entrance is simply not good enough,it just seems like they were trying to cut down on the number of staff used.
and that foot long hotdog stall in the main arena needs to be reported, the hotdogs didn't taste of anything remotely like a hotdog and the guy who runs the stall was a twat to all his staff.

that sucks.
it took me and my mate about 3 1/2hours to get off the car park in 2003.
luckily this time me and Lindsay found my car straight away and we got away no probs, took just over 90mins to get back.

The set up is a joke but I think it's just so big that unless your camped on the gate, your going to walk.
Another brilliant bit was getting to take cans into the arena :) Saved me a small fortune in beer.

And highlights for me was Underworld, Soulwax, the insane amount of minimal house on saturday and FATBOY SLIM!!!
Pish, what the hell was that song which went something like "Oh, all the joy under the sun blah blah OH!"? Can't find it ANYWHERE.

I only came across one chav actually, I thought the atmosphere was immence. But by 8pm on the Saturday it was looking like Michael Jackson's Thriller video with a load of zombies wandering round throwing up. I found this extremely hilarious. :D

Yeah! Some fifteen-year-old heavy metal that sounded like an anachronism when it first came out! THAT'll learn 'em! Lets see if Gitmo is still standing after THAT!
If RATM are people's idea of Rebel Music, then the people DESERVE to be oppressed.
What options do people have though? Rage are a good entry point into alternative politics for some people. I personally didn't think about Rage's politics when I first listened to them, I got into my politics in other ways, but I imagine that for someone who has never really encountered much more than pop music before, it might be extremely fresh and effective. Prestone isn't representative of the average listener, most music fans aren't as knowledgeable as we are. I think it would be ridiculous to assume that Rage honestly think they can change much, and they've always made that clear. People are allowed to protest against things, and that's what they were doing.
I'd never class Rage as heavy metal though.
Sucked to be you guys on general camping! I was at Reading camped in a football stadium, with a minibus to take us to work every morning. I did the walk the first day (the ground was behind brown camp) and had to go through the entire site as well, it was a nightmare. Heard some of our crew complaining that Reading and Leeds had cut back loads because of the fact that there is no longer a named sponsor. Carlsberg/Tuborg/Gaymers were the beer suppliers this year (you probably noticed) but the fact that they weren't title sponsors probably means a huge cut in funding. Still no excuse for the shit tip that both festivals have become in terms of organisation and atmosphere. Reading was actually full of wankers, I've never been around so many arrogant tossers in my life. Telling people that Slipknot were still playing on Sunday was awesome though, people will believe anything if you have a staff pass.

Seen it on Youtube, cheers though!

We left Preston at 6am on Thursday and got in at about 2pm...absolutely crazy. Never seen it like that before. Did managed to get straight out though at 10am this morning, no queue whatsoever...was awesome.

I'm absolutely knackered. Ace times were had. Wasted a lot of the time. In mud a lot of the time.
Rage, Manics, Alkaline Trio, Biffy Clyro were dead good. Seasick Steve was well fun despite being with some guys I'd met two days previous, hahah. Other stuff was probably dead good. Some was not. Never camp next to those rave things, though I didn't really care apart from Saturday night. YAWN.

Haha, good! I only found out who he was after, if I'd known at the time I could of gone to town on the insults.
good points:
Rage
QOTSA
Last Shadow Puppets
****ed Up
Meeting and hugging the singer from ****ed Up
Cancer Bats
Meeting some guy from Emmerdale who used to be in Hollyoakes(Matt has dead famous friends)
Raving at the outdoor nightclub
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
Metallica
Cheaper prices for food
Seeing a toddler dance with her mum on the last day. the cutest thing I have ever seen
bad points:
12 hours to get there
only watching 4 bands on the Friday cause I was so tired- missed the Music, Chromeo or Pendulum and SMD
the mud!!

QOTSA
QOTSA opening with "no one knows" and then following it with "feel good hit" was amazing as was most of saturday night.
also when Seasick Steve got an 18 year girl to come up on stage + whenever it showed her face on the big screne she looked like she didnt want to be there, that was quite funny.

Ahhh man work was NOT SO FUN TODAY.
Lots of good things happened this weekend.
Most of the music (apart from Biffy who disappointed me a bit) was good. Being right in the middle raving my boobies off was good. Having a boy to look after you whilst doing so was good. Los Campencinos was good. Meeting some mint people was good. Getting home in about 2 hours flat was WELL good.
It were hella muddy. I didn't see ANY tent in a worse spot than ours. Also I got my head jumped on while I was asleep inside my tent. Also in the 60 minutes I wore them putting up our tent my new ****ing lovely high tops got RUINED.
edit: and of course seeing joe was good. haha

you'd hope so but the stewards made it worse cos they were spineless (the stewards on the red campsite at least) and wouldnt do anything to help.
thankfully we were grown up enough to ignore them to the point they just went away.

Stewards are only allowed to do so much though. Even the paid ones can only do so much before the have to get security, it's all to do with SIA licenses, most of the stewards at festivals are just volunteers.

Leeds for me...camped on a hill in orange village which we couldn't get up when it was muddy, passed out on the Friday for 6 hours and missed alexisonfire and pendulum, got really ****ing angry that slipknot pulled out, thoroughly enjoyed metallica, watched thrice, alkaline trio, h20 and the unseen and spent the last night holding a private rave under my gazeebo until 6am.
Also did 25 poos in total.
Was one of the best Leeds so far and there were next to none bands I wanted to watch.
Still going to download next year instead.

I got stuck halfway up that thing very late at night, just watching my friend get to the top. No way up and no way down! Then some guy who I was convinced at the time was absolutely amazing and superhuman came and hauled me up it, I think I told him he was a very nice man and was doing a great job. Go booze. Haha.
