This is The Film I Am Waiting For. I've been a huge fan of Watchmen since I read it years back. They have nailed the imagery, now lets hope they don't **** the story up.

Aye. It all boils down to that ending, but to be honest the director seems to be a fan and is clearly doing it for the fans (as stupid as it sounds)

I am positively pissing myself with excitement!
Night Owl looks a bit like Batman, but I'm still kind of glad they changed the super hero costumes. I don't thing the ones in the graphic novel would translate very well into film.

Oh man. That looks so damned good. If they've oversimplified or otherwise ballsed up the story I'll be hunting people down with an axe.

Has anyone else on here seen the Watchmen Motion Comic?
It's FANTASTIC! Out in the US only on itunes, but I managed to find a torrent for it, they've only made chapter 1 so far though.

OMG The Dr Manhattan being 200 foot tall in Vietnam - I always thought that was one of the best single frames in comic book history, and it looks like they've done it right.
One question though, why in the name of all that is holy is Robert Downey Jnr NOT The Comedian? It's the part he was born to play, surely?

The chance of it being delayed it slim to none. Yes there is a court case but it is most likely to end in fox taking profits rather than banning a whole film.

Maybe the younger version, I don't think he'd look convincing as the older much bulkier guy though

I'll definitely go see it, I just don't think Snyder has the wit or talent to successfully adapt it. It's nice that he's trying to keep it so accurate to the comic, but a comic isn't a film. What works in one medium is by no means guaranteed to work in another. Think of all the great novels that have become boring or rubbish movies
And if Smashing Pumpkins appear on the actual soundtrack then I'm walking out of the ****ing cinema

Relax, the likelihood that the movie will include the downbeat counterpart to their contribution to the campest Batman movie is minimal to say the least
I hope they are on it though, just to piss you off

Probably have some NIN in there, that'll annoy him enough.
Soundtrack is being put together by Tyler Bates, same guy that did 300. So I'm expecting lots of "serious" instrumentals.

It is a ****ing good song, and one that warner own copyright too.
The trailer and/or footage refers to schniders "unique direction" but he is just copying scene for scene. Not much direction there is there?

Aside from the global annihilation element, I largely agree with this post. Maybe if the Chili Peppers went on fire too, that would also be awesome.

This movie, to anyone that has read the graphic novel, will be terrible. Just how terrible is yet to be seen, but it will be.
I'm going to go watch it, of course, but I just can't see it working EXACTLY like it did in my head.
That's the beauty of comics, I suppose.

His voice is meant to be creepy and monotonous. He should sound like a serial killer
Instead it's just a generic gruff grumpy Batman-type voice

Nah, I think they've got it about right for the way his diction is represented in the comic, and only one character comments on him sounding particularly creepy as I recall (and I think it was Silk Spectre, and she'd almost certainly be vibing off his hatred of women).
He could do to be a bit more Noo Yawk, maybe.

They went to the whole bother of lettering his voice in an entirely different way to the other characters, to me that seemed like a pretty clear indicator that he's meant to have a weird voice and that it wasn't just Silk Spectre slagging him off

Me too, I thought 300 was effective as a graphic novel translation - forget all the historical/factual inaccuracies as that's not the point of the novel - it's simply about carnage and OTT escapism.
I also thought Sin City was overrated; thought the first story was amazing but then just went down hill all the way. Good but certainly not great.
