Remember it well. 1992 I think, Carter one night and the Levellers at the Guildhall the next............then er, very little at the Guild Hall since!

Hello everyone,
I thought I would give you an update on a few Carter and related type things.
Firstly I have some exciting news with regards to the Carter Birmingham gig on November 21st. Or after the gig I should say! As soon as the concert finishes at around 10:30pm not only will you be able to stay for the 'Gigantic' indie club (as you already know) but now there is more! The manager of the Birmingham Academy has decided though to make The Birmingham Academy 2 (which is part of the same building complex) an exclusive Carter fans aftershow. You therefore won't have to wait for the 'Gigantic' club to start, or if you don't want to hang out with the yoof then you don't have to. Instead you can head straight to the Carter party if you want to carry on drinking, dancing and making merry.
The Academy 2 holds a good few hundred people, and all you will need to get in is your gig ticket (so keep it safe). It's all free of charge though. You will be able to go back and forth from 'Gigantic' should you wish, or you can just stay in the Carter aftershow area. The venue plan to have lots of 90 indietastic type tunes - as well as some great DJ's. Adam from the Vile Evils is already confirmed on the wheels of steel. There will be more names to follow. A late license is also in place, so you can party until you drop. I'll see you there!
On a Birmingham note you may have spotted the (brilliantly designed by Les & John Fac) advert in Q magazine. We only had a couple of hundred tickets to go before this, now we have a handful. We are heading for another sell-out, which is chuffing brilliant. For all you stats fans out there it means Carter will be playing to 3200 people on the Friday in Birmingham, and 5089 in London on Saturday. Cool eh? If you do still need a Brum ticket ticketweb is the place to go.
I would also advise you keep checking out the online Carter shop. As you may know the Academy venues take a whopping 25% of all merchandise takings. This is why a lot of bands charge twenty five pounds for a t-shirt and suchlike. Jim and Les don't want to do this - and they won't! I would though suggest buying online if you can, which means you can turn up to the gig in your new Carter tee - rather than having to put it over an already sweaty shirt. As well as what is online now, some more t-shirts and suchlike will be released before the shows, and everything will be online in advance. Fruity will keep you all updated I'm sure.
Another factoid: Just 74 days to go to the Birmingham Carter gig.
The Brixton Aftershow at Jamm has literally sold hundreds of tickets. There are a few advance once lefts from ticketweb. Don't forget to type in 'JIMBAT' on the promotional code section for some money off if you still need one. http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=271109
On another note Jim Bob is busily working on a new album. There is a long way to go as he is just at the demo stage, but plans are afoot for lots of action in the New Year. In the meantime though, we will be keeping you up to date on how the album is coming along (with some exclusive demos, vids and things) as we go along. The website will be jazzed up a bit in a couple of months, but it's worth joining the myspace (www.myspace.com/jimbobm) and facebook groups (www.facebook.com/pages/JIM-BOB/30919114119). On the Facebook page at the moment I am running a competition. If you post a picture of you meeting Mr. Bob up in our album you could win a prize. My favourite will get something toptastic.
Not to be outdone by his more prolific ex-musical partner, Fruity has also began work on the new Abdou album. 14 tunes are already written and will be finished off before the end of the year.
Last but not least Les is doing a 50 mile bike ride for Charity. I think he is a bit mental as it sounds dead difficult. If you have some spare cash why not sponsor him here? The cause is Sue Ryder, and he is doing it in Peterborough on the 14th. I'm sure if we all give enough then he can't back out. http://www.justgiving.com/lescarter

Yet again our paths apparently crossed - I did front of stage security at that gig. It was fairly dull wasn't it?

yip. i think the family cat were also supposed to play but didn't, on account of them playing at the uni a week later on thier own tour.
i seem to remember it being ok, but not great, it doesnt help i detest the guildhall as a venue..

i believe i probably spent most of it trying to keep my hair under control, as not to remove all visibility and oxygen from all other concert goers. I think the white man 'fro was at its peek/worst moments around this era.
