Your'e not gonna beleive this but I actually was really interested in fungus. I had loads of books about it and used to go walking in the woods with my dad looking for them, and ticking off the ones I saw in my book. I once found a huge Dryad's Saddle (Bracket Fungus - I forget the Latin name) and brought it into the classroom to show everyone. After a day or so it was swarming with maggots and other creepy-crawlies. Didn't go down to well.
