I've been on before and have been trying my best to make it to Gandlafs rehearsal, but i wanna keep my options open. I really struggle to be around in preston on saturdays coz of work back home (bolton) but any other evening (and poss some days depending on timetable in uni) are free.
I'm a singer who has a little bit of experiance, recorded two songs with my last band, called sky's anger. Am quite a meldoic voice usually, influenced by bands like Alter Bridge, Seether, Submersed. I'm just starting out teaching myself bass guitar (can vaugely figure out what i'm spossed to play...but not kidding when i say just starting out) and can play chords on piano.
PM me if anyone is interested and i can send you a copy of my songs so you can hear what i sound like.

My boyfriend has been out of a band for a couple of months and wants to join or start a band, he used to drum for Asylum, Rise To Ruin and Glimpse Of The Void and has been playin roughly 6 years. He is very influenced my prog, hardcore and general metal...he simply wants to start drumming again he misses it.
So if anyone is looking for a drummer PM me and i will put you in touch with him.
Some of you will know him as Johno some will know him as Mark, and if you wish to listen to some of his drumming then i think on the Asylum Myspace it has a couple of songs he drummed on.
Please get him drumming again he is driving me mad!!!
Cheers x

Long-haired guitarist/singer-songwritist, 22, seeks badass drummer and bassist to form a power trio for closeness, long walks in the park and crazy psychedelic acid jam freak-outs. I have songs that can only work with a cranked Les Paul and a funky-ass rhythm section.
Influences include Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Queens Of The Stone Age, Nirvana, Kyuss, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine, White Stripes, Stone Roses, Radiohead and a shitload more.
If you, or anyone you know plays bass or drums and would be interested in kicking out some fuzzy, wah-drenched jams, then please don't hesitate to get in touch. It could be the start of something beautiful...
Peace out. :cool2:

alright people.. starting a new band, we got drums and bass.. just looking for a couple of guitarists and a frontman/woman
guitarists - hopefully you will be able to write stuff and have a laugh!
frontman/woman - not looking for the shy type.. ideally the type to start a revolution if needed but other than that.. can sing?
if you can multi-task and do both.. spot on!
Sort of aiming for experimental progressive rock with a few other things.. but obviously we will just have to see what happens!
got a unit in chorley with everything there so you can just bring your guitar and pedals for a meet up if you fancy it.. transport would be ideal.
Were both 21 so if you could keep it within a decade of that your sorted!
give me a call, text or email as i have all three!

blackpool based semi-instrumental atmospheric guitar/synth band need drummer.
we are playing big emotive songs that are instrumental except for the odd bit of singing here and there, we are introducing electronics and stuff into the mix, only been going a few weeks so we are still finding direction.
formed by ex-members of the sound of superstring, ramonastone and neocoma
influences: as above and oooooo, 65daysofstatic, nine inch nails, yourcodenameismilo, biffy clyro, vhs or beta (not the new stuff) and more probably.
one of our guitar players owns his own studio above the blue room in blackpool so practice and recording is free
message me asap if interested
thanks

I don't want to carry on the trend so much but we're dying for a DRUMMER . I have quite a few songs now fully written and just want a live band to play them with, got most of the band assembled, just need a drummer to make it happen live.
We're going out acoustically in the next month or so, it'll be massively different to the full band i want but it might help get a person or two interested. We've had people come down and drum with us and get the wrong impression straight away. I just want someone who isn't fixed on one type of playing and wants a challenge, a fun one, we want someone who is looking toward doing live gigs and recording in the future, i dont need massive commitment, a night or two a week is fine and can be worked around for now, i'd just like to have someone come down, see what they think to the songs and if they'd like to possibly do some gigs with us in the near future.
The songs i've been writing are leagues above anything i've ever done before and i just want them to be heard.
Anyway, we have a practice space, full pa,, not really into listing influences but i'd say the band sits somewhere between Mae, Band Of Horses, Dissociatives, mid 90's Pumpkins...that kind of thing. We're a nice bunch of lads and yeah, if your interested we'd love to arrange a jam and show you the songs etc. Don't matter how old or young you are either, we're all 22 if that helps tho....
Give us a pm if so, cheeers for reading :) but yeah, if your a drummer not really doing much give us a pm and come down for a jam

Bit of a long shot but here goes, I'm wanting to form or join a blues band but not ancient slit your wrist blues but something more upbeat im hoping to get a modern sound but with a classic vibe, sorry if that sound pretencious (I dont know how to spell that). I play rhythm guitar really but can do a bit of lead like playing so ideally i'd want a good lead player plus drummer, bassist and singer obviously lol. My influences are Led zeppelin, Aerosmith, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC etc. If your interested drop me a line, my number is 07933686392 if you would rather txt or ring me. Cheers
Hi all,
I'm yet another ex-Asylum drummer (the last drummer) with around 10 years experience, looking for something a bit different. I'd like to play something a bit more jumpy (and possibly keyboard based), along the lines of King Casanova, Tub Ring and Dog Fashion Disco.
My drumming style is very jazz but this doesn't reflect my music taste much. A few bands that inspire me are Blueneck, King Casanova, Dog Fashion Disco, Tub Ring, Shape of Despair, Moonspell. Anything either slow, quiet and miserable or bouncy and circussy.
I play a DW Collectors kit with a full set of K Customs and Iron Cobras. I also sometimes use my Roland TD10 electronic set for recording and adding a nice variation to the style. I also play some keyboards, if this is a bonus. I play a Roland Fanton X7.
I have my own transport, but there may be an issue with storage and practise location. I'd need a secure place if I was to leave my drums in a practise area.
If you're interested, or have any questions please feel free to contact me @ minneth@hotmail.com
Don't bother responding to me on Prestone, because I don't check it.
Cheers.

I can also provide recordings if required.

On offer:
Gigs (local and out of town - mostly North of England). Opportunity to play on the recordings for the next CD. If you currently play with a band but fancy doing something in addition to that, fine, you don't need to work with us exclusively.

Hey, in Preston.
For influences absolutely anything from classical onwards - I / we never quote influences for that reason as it's just too vast.
However I went to this years All Tomorrows Parties People V ATP and thought the line up was amazing. Band I really went to see was Do Make Say Think - band that blew mi socks off was 65 Days Of Static - band that made me laugh was Shellac - band that I didn't particularly like was The Capricorns or The Apples In Stereo althoug I don't like doing such negativity.
Cheers - PM or email or call if interested.

I'm doing a solo acoustic gig on 26th October in Preston. I'm looking for a female backing vocalist for that night, and possibly for other gigs in future.
I don't do all that many solo acoustic gigs, so it won't be a massive commitment where we have to practice every week. Just maybe a couple of times leading up to a performance.
You don't need to be able to play an instrument (although that would be a nice bonus), all that I need is someone that can pick up songs fairly quick and sing along.
Let me know if you are interested. You can hear my music on my Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/smallscreendramaqueen)
anyone over 30 fancy getting together for jamming, with potential to writing and gigging. I play bass, guitar and keys, have a fairly decent home studio and have a project with a mate in LA, listen to it on www.myspace.com/basbandits if you like what I do, get in touch and we'll arrange a meet up, could do with guitarist, vocalist, drummer.

Hello,
We're looking for a singer. Preferably female.
We're a Lancaster-based band, and our aim is to produce the perfect soundtrack to a Metal Roller-Disco.
Think Fishbone, Faith No More, Living Colour, No Doubt, Guano Apes (but with the ska element replaced by METAL and DISCO in equal proportion), with a wider remit of S Club 7 and Metallica.
We want someone who'll bring their own creative input, so even if that list doesn't immediately appeal, but you're still a female singer, then get in touch via PM.
We practice in Lancaster once a week, usually week nights, but are flexible to individual needs.
As a footnote, the band is currently made up of members and former members of Anderson, Sprocket Launcher and One Zero One, though I'm not sure if anyone remembers any of them... perhaps I should just say, "lots of gigging experience behind us".
Anyways, any takers, contact me via PM.

Since most people are looking for a drummer, I thought i'd add to the mix (we also might be lookin for a Bass player, not sure yet). This project is in the very very early stages. No direction has been decided or even discussed, we just want to get some people together and see what we can come up with.
Our influences include Seafood, Hell is for Heroes, Jimmy Eat World, Keiko, Soundgarden, Hundred Reasons, to name a few.
We aren't really sure what we want at the minute, but if your looking for something to put your own stamp on then give me a shout on here (PM), were nice guys, honest!

Bit of a long shot but here it goes..
Lead and rhythm guitarist from southport/preston area available to join band/group.
I play mainly metal and therefor would prefer to join a metal/rock band but i play other styles too. Not fussed about "specific types of metal" or anything like that, just seeking a band with an original sound who enjoy what they do and contribute well together.
transport and gear not a problem.

Hi all still not found a guitarist yet - are there any out there?
We are a creative sounding band so it could be a very satisfying role especially if you can play different instruments as we like to swap and change.
Quiet noodling to massive kick your ass soundscapes is what we are about.

Greetings all....Anyone fancy laying down some moody keyboards on a demo for us?We would like atmospheric chords played over some of our tracks. The first priority is to cut a demo. The material is there and raring to go.It wouldnt need to be a permanent thing either so if your in a band and want a little sideline, feel free to come and have a session. We have a keyboard here too, so no sweat about karting gear around.
the Valvetronics music covers many genres
drop me a line if ya can make it
valvetronics@btinternet.com
So we're still looking for a creative bass player...
Vocal ability would be nice too.
Influences... if you like Bowie, Nick Cave, Richard Hawley you may like us.
Have a listen to all the stuff on the MySpace as a starter. If you're still interested after that, get in touch via PM here or via MySpace message.
What we offer - gigs (local and out of town - mostly North of England), create the bass lines on the recordings for the next CD.
If you currently play with a band but fancy doing something in addition to that, fine, you don't need to work with us exclusively.

Hello there!
I'm Nikki and I currently sing/scream in a heavy rock band called Gundown Sunday. I'm looking to also start an acoustic act where we would ideally both play covers and our own original tracks.
If you are quick to learn covers and able to create your own catchy riffs please get in touch!
I used to be part of an acoustic duo, and you can hear the material Rick and I produced by clicking on the link at the bottom of this message.
As I am busy as a teacher and with my other band this will not take up a great deal of your time - we will probably have one practice a week for a few hours.
If you are interested please PM me. Cheers!!

im 21 but very experienced. i drive and have a car.

i play Guitar, Drums, Bass, Synths and can do backing vocals well. i also have all the equipment to play all of the above, plus some recording equipment and a PA.
im also a trained sound engineer and an imaginative producer/programmer.
i hope all that doesnt sound like im blowing my own trumpet too much.
anyway, hit me up if you think i can help you.
im open to offers from anyone, but i would like to work with some people who are as professional and dedicated as i can be.

I need a drummer to join a band i'm wanting to start and get together, just want someone who wants to practice, get good and then do gigs, the sound is varied but along the lines of Band Of Horses, Machina II SP, early Mae and such...we have pianos and guitars and singers, just want a drummer who wants to be in a band and we'll get it off the ground finally..if your interested just pm me. lxx
Does anyone need a bass player, saxophonist or synth/samples for anything? I'll attempt to sing too if you like, oh and i play guitar, but I just kinda dick around playing wierd bluesy solos or black metal riffs, i'm not a chords guy at all
Genre-wise I love pretty much everything, from grime to neo-folk and everything in between. However, I guess what i'm really looking for is something really original. I don't wanna be involved in anything that's fits too easily into one genre. I've always said there are two ways to be sucessful in music: either do something new, or do something old and do it better than everyone else, and i've always thought innovation was far more impressive than just practicing more than other people.

I'm thinking this will sort-of be the right place to post, or at least people should see. Has anyone had singing tuition and wants to recommend their singing teacher? I'm looking for one at the moment, ideally in Lancaster but I can do Preston too. I'm hoping to find someone who can help me learn to sing some classical stuff but all is good. Just PM me if you know someone (let me know prices if you know any).
I may be available to sing in any band that needs someone to lend a voice or perhaps hum some harmonies. Just let me know. I've never done much individual singing before, but I've got lots of choir experience.

Anyone fancy making some angry folk music? Or something to pass the time.
I've wanted to do write some folk songs for ages now, along the lines of Great Lake Swimmers, Ohbijou, Final Fantasy, Beirut, Basia Bulat....loads of things really, what do you play? I'd love to get something together if you were still up for it possibly.
Our quest for a bass player completed, we're now setting off on a new quest, to find the drummer of our dreams to complete The Many Splendid Things lineup....
The material's written, the gigs are waiting, the money is £0.
The succesful applicant will be creative, looking for something quite different, and capable of keeping time nicely.
Our genre? Alternative-folk-rock-ish
Rather than rabbit on about influences, please have a listen to stuff on our MySpace http://www.myspace.com/glynbailey and get in touch for more information if you're interested (via MySpace or PM on here)

Hey, i'm just wondering, abit of along shot i guess but i want to go and record a few of my songs in the next month or two at some studio and i was trying to get hooked up with someone who plays violin and someone who plays cello.
If anyone on here does and wants to come and record my songs with me then please come, it'd be great. Also, i can work out some payment too for you of course.
I was going to just use keyboard but it just doesnt have the same edge, so anyone who plays those instruments or knows anyone, would be awesome and a real help.

White Moths need a bassist please.
We're a friendly crew, 3 girls and a guy. Varied influences. We're busy writing and rehearsing at the moment so it's a good time for a bassist to come in and have a big say in the sound. What do we sound like? Well...we have a female bluesy vocalist, some crazy synth sounds, rocky guitar riffs, and a drummer with a cowbell and an envious collection of shoes. Um..you're probably best coming down if you're interested and judging for yourself! We have practice space and currently practice twice a week at the Mill.

Yep, we've worn one out already..
Seriously though, as most of you know, Ryan has been "doubling up" with Screams Of Cold Winter AND Without Motive. So far this has been working out fine but as things are turning out to be busier than expected Ryan feels it is going to be too much to carry on with both bands AND have a life too. Therefore Ryan will be leaving Screams Of Cold Winter and just be playing with his first band Without Motive. Ryan will be continuing with the band for a while to cover the gigs booked so far but we do need to find a replacement drummer a.s.a.p. before booking further gigs.
So, "new drummer required", If you saw us on friday 11th at the VENUE and like what you heard and are interested email coldwinter@blueyonder.co.uk with your contact details and we will get back to you. Also,
please bear in mind although there are only a few gigs listed here, there are a few more in the pipeline which (a) need to be confirmed or (b)we can't publish or promote them just yet. Ideally we would be looking for someone who is not going to be "doubling up" with another band so a similar problem doesn't arise in the future.
On behalf of Screams Of Cold Winter I would like to thank Ryan for the time and effort he has put in so far and we all wish him well and understand and respect his decision
Thanks spike

OMFG, I might be a drummer who doesn't know what a garage band is*.
It's a relatively new term, and one which has been re-used a million times.
At the moment, the main difference between you and the strokes seems to be a lack of percussion.
What do you sound like.
*I'm not, though.

that if we looked and sounded as much like the Strokes as we could
Best description I heard of the Strokes was Grunge-lite. They certainly weren't a garage band.
It's a relatively new term, and one which has been re-used a million times.
Hardly a new term..'Garage Rock' has been used to descibe the music of The Wailers, Sonics, Link Wray, Kingsmen, Question Mark and the Mysterions and the Standells to name a few and can't forget Billy Childish and his many incarnations.
Modern equivilent would be the explosion of Detroit bands that happened a few years ago with White Stripes, Dirtbombs, Von Bondies, Hentchmen, Flaming Sideburns, 5 6 7 8's and Oblivions.etc..
And obviously used for UK piano dance music from 90's.

Hi - bit of a long shot but trying to find a talented goth guitarist or bassist who's also into being very *Visual* (think full on Goth and Glam and Jrock things like Malice Mizer / early Dir En Grey etc) and can give us TOTAL commitment (can't stress this enough)

we've got a newly signed german deal releasing our album in Europe in March with festies in Europe being planned and stuff in the UK too
bassist has to play 5 string (can borrow mine for now)
and we have to travel to rehearse (based here, Stoke and York) hence the commitment thingy

And obviously used for UK piano dance music from 90's.
*insert gentle rant about how the term garage in dance music was originally only used for obscure American soul and groove flavoured House music which like a lot of US unknowns found a market here in the early nineties (we have a habit of finding the stuff the americans pass over, and creating a scene around it, northern soul and house being good examples), and about how the term was then kidnapped later to describe a two-step related minimalist form of RnB (UK, or speed garage).
UK piano dance music acts are quite rare, apart from the pop hits like K-Klass etc, which are in no way Garage. Most of the piano stuff played in the UK back then was imported from Italy in the late eighties, and there is still a huge Italo-House scene here in the northwest, though it's more of a retro thing. There aren't that many UK acts churning out piano house. Any UK piano house is probly not garage in either sense of the word.

Agreed. I think most genre names are press induced and totally pointless, but you can't beat having a massive internetz argument about whether The Stooges were a proto-punk band, a garage band or a rock band. etczzzzzzzzzz;)

Yup, our quest for bass and keyboard players completed, we're now setting off on a new quest, to find the drummer of our dreams to complete 'The Many Splendid Things' lineup....
The material's written, the gigs are booked.....
The succesful applicant will be creative, looking for something quite different, and capable of keeping time nicely.
Happy to share with another band, if you're committed but fancy a side project.

I don't really understand, though, how testosterone is somehow linked to the rether fiddly and precise activity of making electronics alter the tone of an electrical signal.
I'd have thought some tribal drumming or something a bit more direct would be a bit more manly.

New band looking for a rhythm guitarist or keyboardist (perhaps both if you are that way inclined). We have about 6 songs written and we're coming up with more all the time. You would be part of the song writing process, we are a democracy. There is currently 3 of us (guitar/vox, bass and drums) and we practise at the Mill, usually on a Tuesday and Friday at 7.30pm. Bands we listen to and admire include, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Interpol, Okkervil River, Iron and Wine, Arcade Fire etc.
If you could sing a bit, that'd be a bonus for harmonies, backing vox and the like.

DIRTY, FAT, DISTORTED, ORGAN RIFFS - Deep Purple, Clutch, King Casanova ;)
Piano pop - Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Keane...

Looking for commited band members who can play:
Drums / percussion
Keyboards / piano / synths / samples etc
Guitar
Bass
Arrangements / orchestration
Any people around with a creative attitude who can do any or more than one of the above? We have the attitude of not particularly sticking to one instrument but playing what a song needs. No egos as such just bring your ideas to the table...
Check the band here

Bongos, Funk-Star, his sister, and myself are looking for a BASS PLAYER
Things are coming together for us now, so we're trying again to find a bass player (I thought it was just drummers that were hard to find?!!! Thank gawd we have one of those already!)
Influences many and varied. Indie-rock is probably how we sound. Female vocals. We're fun and laidback, so if you fancy coming down and hearing us, PM me
;)

Ex Gundown Sunday members Nikki, Gaz and Matt are seeking a new guitarist to create a new band with a brand spanking new name. Hopefully you will be anywhere between 20-40, a (at least!) competent guitar player, have a great sense of humour and able to write kick ass riffs for us to work around.
Influences include Tool, Faith No More, Skunk Anansie, Skid Row, stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains et al
We are also hoping to perform the occasional gig as a covers band to earn back some £ in what seems to unfortunately be a 'pay-to-play' society for bands playing original tracks. We are, however, first and foremost intending to be an originals band, merely playing the odd covers gig.
PM me if you are interested.

Looking for a guitarist and probably vocalist for progressive, experimental band with a hint of post hardcore, dub and post rock i guess.
Me ( bass ) and the drummer use a variety of instruments such as bongos and synth.
We are into bands like At the drive-in, the mars volta, the fall of troy, portugal the man, sounds of animals fighting, de facto, mastodon, sonic youth, fugazi, mono, explosions in the sky, this will destroy you, johnny truant and some other stuff. Just so you have an idea :)
We are 18 so a similar age would be cool. We jam at the drummers house.
Thats it really
PM me if your interested. Tankyou

I'm gonna put a band together. In the style of GOGOL BORDELLO, LENINGRAD, SHANTEL, MAHALA RAI BANDA.
Kind of Russian/ Gypsy Folk Rock Punk(ish).
I'm a singer so we need,
DRUMS, BASS, GUITAR, VIOLIN, ACCORDIAN, BRASS, SINGERS etc.
Age isn't important (Look at Sergey Ryabtsev (violinist from GOGOL).<
