View Full Version : rock/metal acts you wanna see at 53 degrees
so far "and on the 3rd day" has gone just perfect, thanks to all involved
the next step for Leona and I is to look at attracting the best in new, upcoming and established rock and metal acts to play on our new night.
signed, unsigned and artists from abroad
..."you suggest, we'll dotherest" (it rhymes, ok....)
we have proven the interest and market is in Preston, and we feel we have a good enough product to say to bands "come play Preston"
we have 400 and if the right band is there 1200 capacities to play with
we aren't at the stage where slayer, metallica, system of a down are gonna ever consider coming just yet, so please make your suggestions realistic.
WE WILL LOOK INTO EVERY SUGGESTION
fire away...silliness in this thread will be deleted..

Won't happen in a long while, was talking to Ray a couple of weeks ago and after their current US tour their taking some time off then going into the studio to try and get their next album out by the end of 2007.
But to be fair, they're really not worth watching live anymore. They all have other commitments they consider more important than FF and it shows in their now half-arsed live performances.

and they won't do preston.
academy manchester/ no fewer than a 2000 capacity is what they'd do. certain bands have this ruling on this, and FF are one of them (not exact figures, but they won't consider certain sized venues)
smaller intimate shows are for the bigger cities

But anyway yeah, get ISIS someone. New album out next week, bound to be touring early next year.

...i also agree with you. Cant ever imagine seeing such acts in preston, i was amazed when Cult of Luna played the mill a couple of years back! was brilliant, the other bands were foul. Seeing Pelican in preston would be great!

New Entombed album out early next year - and they'll be touring. There ya go.

The Haunted (also new album coming out)
Converge (ditto)
Dillinger Escape Plan
Johnny Truant
Napalm Death
Paradise Lost
Anthrax (seriously - they played Academy 2 few years back why not get 'em on here!!)

we have plenty of contacts/bands that want to play up here but we simply cant afford them
whats your "money" policy on firstly signed bands, and also the unsigned just so i can get a decent picture + then compile my list of possible bands
cheers
our policy is
"if we book them, they will come"
some bands in this thread wuld only attract 3 people, some would attract 1200. its a case of looking at many variables, such as tour history, record release dats etc

Just an idea...
Consider checking out the Bradford Rio site and band history. That'll give you a few clues to popular bands that play that size venue.
At least I've heard of most of the metal bands that have played there and that's what you need....bands that people can recognise.
That's a great venue with a very strong metal reputation and has a similar capacity....400ish, but far away enough that bands could easitly play there and Preston?
I'm off to see Amon Amarth there soon, I recently saw Testament and loads of other ace bands...
Also you could consider contacting musicians who do clinics and such. Michael Angelo just played a tiny little place in Liverpool, it would have been ace to see him in Preston. People like Paul Gilbert and Mike Portnoy who need ace places for their clinics would be awesome to see.
...just some ideas...
