Just because someones mates brother got told to rub vaseline on his tattoo for 45 minutes a day for 16 weeks after his tattoo,or beckys sisters mum had one and they didnt use any aftercare so you thought you didnt have to.......

.......MEANS JACK SHITE

1) red/bue/green/yellow/lilac etc fades more than any other

rubbish, theyre all the same,it depends on how you look after your tattoo after you've had it done wether it fades or not,the main culprit being sunlight,so if your tattoo is exposed to sun ****/you use sunbeds then your colour will fade

use sunblock on your tattoo or turn into a hermit if you want to keep it peachy keen ( i suggest sunblock, far less miserable)

2) the 'gun' sticks 'needles' right into you

BULLSHIT,firstly it isnt a gun,it is a machine,it doesnt fire bullets it makes a needle bar move ver very fast a tiny amount to get the ink ever so slighty into the 2nd layer of your skin

the 'needles' are indeed needles, but when person after person goes 'oooh i'm afraid of needles' well yeh,so am i,these arent needles in the way you think, they are a group of either 3,5,7,9,11 or 14 needles soldered together either into a point or into a flat zigzag group which are then grouped with the tattoo machine.

The ends of the groups of needles then come out 1 and a half milimetres at the most to get the ink into the skin. It's more like a sharp pen than needles, trust me

You will find that if people have bad scarring/very raised tattoos this is because the 'artist' (and i use the word lightly, for want of a better one) has set the group of needles too far and created a scar

3) i am gonna wait til i go on holiday to get my tattoo,as a souvenier

BAD IDEA CHUCK! as i said, the worst enemy of a tattoo is the sun,so getting one whilst on a summer holiday is a bad bad bad idea, plus you most probably will not have researched the studio or artist where you get the tattoo VERY VERY BAD,always always go by recommendation and reputation, not just which looks cleanest/has best designs/are friendlist/is nearest

i cannot stress that point enough

4) how much for a tattoo thats oooh so big,and black, abit of red?

i dont know,my cars broke, how much to fix it?

and please I DO NOT GIVE ONLINE QUOTES,ever

none

ahem,anyways

always have the design in your hand and ask the artist how much,to avoid annoying wonderfully nice people like me and sending them insane ®

5) How much did you say for that tattoo?god i only paid 25 quid for this one (then proceeds to show a tattoo that looks like his blind cat did,on speed)

DO NOT judge a tattoo by price,if the studio you're getting a quote from is ace, trust them,it'll be worth it

OR you could go to the shit place in town where it's 20 quid cheaper then after a year finally pluck up courage to come in and see us to get is sorted out but dont be suprised if it costs you double what you originally paid to fix it,oh and abit more painful cos the dickheads who did it will no doubt have scarred you abit

6) I heard it was good to have a smoke before i got my tattoo/i just had a few JD's for courage

nope, leave all that to your brain to release endorphines for pain relief, weed will make you more sensitive and as i said, alcohol will thin yer blood

7) Where's more painful, your back or your leg to get a tattoo

dunno mate, everyone is different, one person can sit twiddling their thumbs while getting 2 hours done on their lower back etc while the next person can have a bad time of it,the same person who didnt even blink when the tattoo started can find one on their shoulder utterly uncomfortable

basically get one where you really want one,it never hurts so much that you have to walk out with a half done tattoo,in 15 years dave has done that once IIRC

8)temporary tattoos

DO NOT EXIST!!!!you will notice a distinct fall off of how many places offer them, that is because they are a con,now its a couple of years down the road from when they first appeared people have either been left with a washed out blur on their body or the tattoo is in some other way just shit

it will never disappear,if it doesnt fade after 2 months then it'll just be there but look just like a tattoo, not a temporary one just a shit one

thats if the bastard/bitch who did it hasnt scarred you badly like one poor lass we had come into the studio who's tattoo was so raised off her back it looked like branding, not a tattoo

Hi, thanks for the info, my friends got two of them, one at the bottom of her back, one on her upper arm, she had them done at Afflecks in Manchester. The one on her back after two years still looks good, the other has faded slightly, do you not think they are a good idea for people that are not that sure about having a permanent one?

ArtyCow
31-03-2005, 06:25 PM
they ARE permanent ones, read whats there, they dont exist,as you have just told me the two she has,one is still good and the others faded, they will never fade, there is no such thing as a semi permanent tattoo

ArtyCow
31-03-2005, 06:44 PM
oh and if someone 'isnt that sure' about getting a tattoo they should most definately not get one until they are 100% sure

unless your off on a holiday to a tattoo festival of sorts and someone who you know does a good job is there.

only time i can think of doing that being a good idea.

hence saying summer holiday,as in beach holiday,it goes without saying that if you go to a tattoo convention whilst on holiday or research your studios before you go away and would give anything to have a tom renshaw portrait then yes,do that, but thought that was a given

ArtyCow

erm not reeeaally,in fact horrendously not keen in the slightest,it seems such a barbaric procedure, with tattoos you do whatever you can to make your tattoo the best it can be,you try and pick the best design, the best artist, best placement and look after it while its healing the best you can.........with branding you destroy your skin, cooking it,then you look after it the WORST you can do,pick it,rub nasty stuff into it,make it heal as slowly and badly as possible, and after you're left with a scar........it just doesnt appeal to me in the slightest, and the actual branding is pretty gross apparently, and the smell is far from attractive

maybe i should have given the short answer :p but at the end of the day its all down to personal choice, somebody who i admire greatly and think is a top geezer is in the process of getting his tongue split atm which makes me just want to hurl back my cranberry and white choc cookie, and then some more, but wharrever floats yer boat i spose!

I have another question!

What is your experience/opinion of laser tattoo removal?

I have a tattoo on my arm that I don't mind so much now but I know I'm going to hate in a couple of years. I woke up one day when I was 18 in a fairly pissed off mood and got a tattoo without thinking. awesome I know. It's not the design that bothers me, it's fairly well done, I just don't like having one on my upper arm. I've looked into laser removal, it's fairly pricey and sounds painful, neither of which i'm that bothered about. I just want to know that it will do what it says it will ya know. If i'm going to be left with a washed out tattoo or scar I'll just leave it as it is. Thanks in advance :]

as far as i know, they dont do any piercings anymore as quincy the piercer moved to manchester..
i think he still comes back every month or two but i dont know if he does microdermals..
i also know a place in manchester that i would recommend, theres no piercers in preston i'd trust.

I've got a small question about the inks you use, are they synthetic or animal based inks?

If not, can you get the synthetic inks quite easily?

I'm just asking around as I'm planning on getting my first tattoo in the next month or so.

ArtyCow
05-05-2008, 10:11 PM
We use different inks, mainly Dermaglo and Eternal, you would need to check them out to be sure, also we use different black inks too, eternal lining and 'one' ink

like a gun, needles, ink, etc. from the power socket to the needle
