Moon Landing Discussion Thread

Post by J2TheH »

Hello. It's James, aka J2TheH.

They never tell you to think about your username. It's important, as people will genuinely call you it in real life. I still get it sometimes. Very cringe, but very lovely.

I joined Prestone fairly late back in the day, it was already super well established and was so exciting. I was just about to finish University, so this place helped me find friends and a new social circle before everyone I knew left. It made me stay in Preston, and I'm still here now. I love it.

Post-Prestone, I've got married (You know it's been ages when I've been married 8 years and It's a 'super new thing' in this context), and still making music and knocking about with people I met thanks to this place.

Eternally grateful for this weird corner of the internet, so wanted to slide in express my gratitude. Also loving typing a post again! haha! Discord is fun, but nowhere near as satisfying as this decrepit loveliness.

hang on wait you're not from Preston? I thought they made you out of authentic dust taken from Tom Finney and Dr. Syntax.

I was born in Preston, and my family moved to Lancaster when I was 4. I returned for uni at 18 years old, and never went back.

So I've been here longer than I've been in Lancaster, and was born here. So I reckon that counts. No matter what Richard Bilsborough insists.

I looked at all sorts of options, but ultimately I figured registering on a proper forum was likely too difficult for the mouth breating flag shaggers while also giving a measure of protection to members from their data being harvested to sell them BBLs and fake Viagra.

This was a great choice. If you're going to build a nostalgic website for old people, then VBulletin is the only way to go. Such a treat.

The fact it's safer is only a bonus to me. It's so weird that I'm nostalgic for this old post box I'm typing in.

vB upgrade is about £170, the version I have a licence for is a security nightmare now.

If it gets used I'm willing to invest a little. vB is a MUCH better product, but the purchase and ongoing costs don't justify spending as is stands.

If it gets spead about, and if people use it I'll see what alI can do.

I’m shocked that vbulletin is still a thing and still that expensive 🤣

JtotheH was faked by Kubrick. You can tell by looking at his shadow.

Here he is.

Only Richard Alan Bilsborough would make a claim to be the only man ever from Preston, with no qualifiers.

Like them old tall-tale mad lads you used to get in pubs.
